Return fuel pipe requirement.
Is the return pipe required for the SVA ??
If not what is the alternative?
Who is the best suppliers of fuel pipes, which is SVA approved?
Thanks

When you say return pipe - what type of system do you have?
If its a carb system, its not normal to have a return pipe - unless its venting fuel vapour to a carbon canister. (on the cars I have owned anyway -
the professionals on this list could say otherwise). My metro turbo, which used a pressurised carb system, did have a return.
If you have fuel injection, its important, if not vital! to have a return.
The electric fuel pump pushes fuel into the injection manifold, which is pressure regulated. The return pipe carries the 'overpressure' back to the
tank, so you get a constant circulation of fuel whilst maintaining pressure to the fuel manifold.
I dont recall the sva book having anything specific on fuel pipe routing or pipe. There is however 'good practice' that the examiner expects to see.
I suspect this includes pipe marked with correct standards.
You can buy approved hose and clips (the clips - debatably - need to be the correct type also) - from vehicle wiring products and Europa spares. There
are different types for efi and carb systems.
If you just want 1m lengths with clips and are rich, halfords do them.

Being a tight a**e myself and with the price of petrol that it is, I would find it desirable to return ANY surplus/unused petrol back to the tank.

Fuel Pipes & SVA
For the Sytlus I used 8mm copper gas pipe bought from a caravan spares place, they even hace nice 90 degree solder bends to go with it !. I have no
fuel return, and AFAIK there is nor SVA requrement for one. If the carbs are full the pressure slows the fuel pump so there is no need for a return
unless you are running injection or some constant loss system that does not have any needle valves in the carb(s)
