Flywheel Bolts
I am removing the flywheel from my 1600 x-flow to replace the ring gear, should I replace the bolts with new ones when re-fitting ?

It is worth replacing them, especially since they're not very expensive. Last thing you want is the flywheel coming off. That nice sharp new ring
gear would probably slash your legs off a treat.

Hmmm, good point Hicost, sorry to appear scaremongering. Either way, if nothing else it's an inconvenience. Did you replace the bolts before they
broke, or were they rusty and nasty?

Seen a flywheel explode on a Mini once at a grasstrack meeting. A JCB had to be called in to dig a piece of flywheel out of the track. This piece of
flywheel had gone through the the front bulkhead and the floorpan first.....
Luckily the driver escaped unscathed but it does make you think.
Dont just build it.....make it!

there was a fatal accident in autograss involving a rear mounted mini engine in a single seater, flywheel parted company, you know the rest, the rule
book now asks for a 1/4" plate on the rear bulkhead inline with any transverse mounted engines, nuff said, replace the bolts, and dowel too if u
can........
