i got this yesterday, it was very convincing!
when i hovered over a link and it gave an IP address i was dubious, but before that i thought it was legit.. warning me that someone had been trying
to get into my account and it had been suspended, so i had to log in and sort it out.. sneaky buggers!

"e-Bay" Message
I received something very similar, purporting to be from e-Bay itself, advising me that my account will be suspended unless I re-validated it.
Going thru this re-val process, they wanted my credit card details - then requested my PIN no.!!!!
That was when I reckoned it was a scam. Anybody else had this version? How did you deal with it?
Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

Then you should advise everyone on your emailing list for good measure!
Well... that's what I'm going to do!
ONLY LOGIN BY GOING DIRECTLY TO EBAY OR PAYPAL DO NOT CLICK THE LINK IN THE EMAIL...!!!!

If youcan forward it to spoof@paypal.com together with an explanation, they may well be interested.
This is their spoof-tracing department...

Blimey I thought every body knew about these by now - I get two or three a week, they do look quite convincing though.
If you're not sure, place the cursor on the link if it's not a https paypal site, don't click it.
I've sent about twenty of these to the spoof paypal address, but apparently every time the fraudsters change their address they get more peoples
details.
Paypal never ask for details by e-mail, they ask you to log into your account if there's any problem.
Cheers

I get two or three phishing emails like that every week, mostly from paypal or ebay, I ignore them all and just forward them to spoof@ebay.co.uk or
spoof@paypal.co.uk, they chase everyone down i think.
0-60 in 14 seconds, time to start a build i guess!

To go to paypal I always type it into the address bar so it redirects itself. My wifes friend had an email from paypal asking her to log in as there
had been unusual buying activity using her account but it was a genuine request from them as she had used her account to buy some materials for her
new hobby, so they do actually check up on you to ensure their security. It made me feel safer anyway.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

We've had this at work a couple of times in the last few months. There's also a Barclays one doing the rounds that advises you not to give
out your details online as they'd never ask, but they then go on to do exactly that.
A bit of slapstick never hurt anyone.

Igot a phone call suppose to be from my bank and they quoted my account number and requested that i pay my overdue credit card payment over the phone
. Thats when I told the boy to naff off.
It was overdue at the time but it makes you wander how much of your details they actually have
Mike.

They don't mind you not paying, they just pile more interest and charges on. That's a money spinner for them.

Yeah, only a properly formatted HTML email can look like it says http://paypal.com/ but actually link to http://evil.com/.
no substitute for knowing what's going on under the hood, be it cars or the internet.
