Duratec installation costs
Assuming I manage to find a Duratec at a breakers I'd like an idea of the costs involved in getting one into a seven. Any views?

I think Darren (GTS) was doing a kit for fitting them. Don't think it was on the cheap side - but i think it did include full EMU / throttle
boddies etc

If you price up the following then it should give you some idea:
Engine
Uprated gearbox
Bell Housing
Lightened flywheel
Clutch
Hydraulic Clutch actuator
Front Pulley assembly
Smaller alternator and drive
Side exit oil filter
Shortened sump
Throttle bodies and filter
ECU
Uprated injectors
Coolant system
Exhaust
Engine mounts
plus odds and sods
I did one for under £4k using a new 2.3 motor, Megasquirt, throttle bodies and injectors from ebay, self fabricated sump and exhaust and heavy duty
quaife type 9 gearbox.
The 2.0l is good for 190+bhp in standard trim with throttle bodies, uprated injectors, and modified fuel map. It can be pushed to around 270bhp n/a
but the costs start to climb.
The plus point is that once you've done the install the engine is the cheap part so if it goes pop it's not as tragic
There are some pictures in my photos section.
Its a nice light motor with good torque characteristics.
If getting one from the breakers be aware that the engines don't seem to like front end damage to the car and be sure that it is a 2.0 that you
are being offered, there were a lot of instances where 1.8's were being passed off as 2.0's. The engine number specifies rthe capacity but
check that it was stamped by Ford
Cheers,
Colin
