X-flow manifold studs
Any one know where I can get new exhaust manifold studs for my x-flow on-line ?
My local motor factors claim they cant get them cause the engine is too old.
I think they are 5/16 unf one side and 5/16 unc the other

You are correct, I had the same problem, I have just used 5/16 UNC on both sides of the stud with matching nuts, easier to source

u dont need studs... ordinary 5/16 cap screws are excellent and give you great access.

Brass nuts?
Brass expands more than steel so when hot they may come loose! I know they don't corrode like steel but dissimilar metals and moisture will
cause chemical reaction and in this case it would erode the steel studs... just thought it may be worth mentioning.

Brass nuts on galvanised studs do not corrode a great deal as brass is an alloy of zinc and copper and the galvanised stud is zinc externally hence
not that dissimilar. Also the exhaust manifold tends to be fairly moisture free as its bloody hot. Clamping force is not lost as the brass expands in
all directions, including into the thread form. Usually a bit squeaky when you take them off after a while though.
