Zetec / MT75 Flywheels?

I run a tuned zetec engine in my seven coupled to an MT75 gearbox.

At the moment I run a standard 2ltr zetec flywheel and clutch with modded release bearing that incorporates a 19mm spacer.

Three things have been bugging me.

1) I consider this to be a bit of a bodgy solution.

2) It’s a bit rattly.

4) My stock clutch is not up to the increased torque and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of up rated after market clutches about to fit the zetec flywheel.

So.....

I am considering having a batch of bespoke lightweight steel flywheels made up that will do away with the spacer issue and will be drilled and pegged to fit a 2wd cosworth clutch assembly. The flywheels will have an integral ring gear as most of the latest performance weight flywheels do. This also saves on ring gear and ring gear fitting costs. They will retain the 36/1 crank trigger in the back and use the stock sensor location.

I have spoken to a local machine shop who already make flywheels for a lot of well known motorsport companies and they are willing to produce a batch of five for a unit cost of £200 each.

Obviously, I only need one so I was wondering if anyone else would like to come in on a group buy?

Thanks,

Doug.

Have you tried Dunnel? They do a lightened flywheel and clutch which uses a standard Sierra DOHC release bearing. They are also into tuning so might be able to offer advice re clutches.

Please contact me about this. We quoted for Juno Racing Cars and managed to save them quite a bit of money.

They'd originally been quoted £270 each, not including ring gear, and we quoted £81 each (both prices +VAT) for their Jag V6 engine. Needless to say Euan Baldry was none too pleased to hear this as he'd just taken delivery of 5 from his other supplier!

If you have drawings, send them on and we'll be happy to quote.

We can also supply EBC clutches.

Best Regards,

Steve.
