B&Q sell M12 studding (and other sizes) in 1m lengths. A nut on each end and two spanners, Bob's your uncle.

You can buy the originals from Ford.

Not too expensive if I remember correctly.

Cheers

AHC in Camberley will send them to you:

P.S. Depending on how your handbrake cables go you may not want a bolt through the whole mount. Myself and Bob have used two separate bolts.

Mines fitted with M12 studding. Nice and tight, very strong. Bolted rigid to chassis so wont see the same forces that get applied to suspension bolts etc. Several manufacturers have used this method for some time with no ill effect.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I have phoned Ford to try and get some bolts, but even with a sierra diagram in front of them they were unable to determine which bolts held the diff to the car (Doh!)

I think I will try studding for the time being and maybe buy some 8.8 Threaded bar when I am nearer to being on the road.

Cheers!

"Maybe" buy 8.8?

Don't you think that's a little risky seeing as it holds your diff on?!

Two 30/40mm bolts will work anyway. Why bother with the long ones?

James

how will the 30/40mm bolts work? There is no thread in the diff? It will have to go all the way through so you can get a nut on the other end!!!

The bolt 'hole' through the diff is not enclosed so you should be able to put separate bolts on each side.

I haven't tried yet but I though it would be possible. I will have a look at home.

I've gone the short bolt route: you have to grind a bit of the head off for the bolt to slide into position properly - but then it can't rotate so makes tightening easier!

Best photo I could find in a rush:

Bob (other Bob! ) and I have done it this way so we can fit the handbrake cable through these cuts in the diff casing- allows a straighter path.

HTH,
James
