i would imagine it would need a hole.

Why do you want to fit std plenum. Isnt it a bit big, numb, ugly and useless??

I have seen them fitted to locosts with a big hole in the bonnet. A bit ugly IMO. However, you can modify the plenum to fit under the bonnet with a bit of cutting and (alloy) welding.

Have a look at http://www.rhocar.org/content.php?article.9 (though the author incorrectly calls it a vellum chamber for some reason).

Also look at Mark Allansons home made plenum that fits very neatly.

Yes, a hole in the bonnet will be very ugly. I did it, because i could not weld aluminum. Now i’m happy with it, like the way it is. But the next time i should modify plenium.

A pickie of it all finished, runs like a dream, plenty of power. The car does 25mpg on a blat, but if I take the mrs out for a gentle trundle, it can get over 60mpg! Rescued attachment UptoDatePlenum.jpg
