MT75 from transit
Hi All
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a sierra type MT75 and a Transit MT75?
Is the transit box okay for use in a 7, or is the sierra item a better option?
Cheers
Alex

The main difference is that the gear change linkage comes out of the top of the box just behind the bellhousing - not at the back where you want it.
Also most of them will have a bellhousing for a diesel engine. Much better off with a sierra one. Type "MT75" in ebay for some pictures
of both types to see what I mean. Liam

MT75 have integral bellhousings , so a diesel gearbox wont be much use , unless of course i can be proved wrong .
i looked at them for an upgrade to my volvo since theyre supposedly good to 370 hp/torque , and a replacement for the T5 box .

Integral bellhousing, but I am almost certain that as with the getrag integral bellhousing boxes, the front casings are interchangeable.
On the getrag (which the MT75 looks distinctly like a copy of!!) the gear cluster is all mounted to the rear housing. Undo the ring of bolts and split
the casing, then bolt on the other front casing.

Grabbed some pics off ebay as suggested (why didn't I think of that ) and it looks like they are completely different.
So if the the transit bellhousing is also different it looks like a no go to use the box.
Thanks all, back to the drawing board it is.
