engine choice
im in a bit of a dilemma over what engine to use in my mk indy, the choices i have so far are
Pinto
Zetec
DOHC 8v
im not a fan of bike engines so thats a total no-no.
what are the benifits and pitfalls of these engines in an indy? i know the pinto is favoured and the zetec can provide good reliable power, but i feel
the 8v lump is underrated
the car will be for trackdays and motorsport really and may not even see a road so what would the racers choice be?

Out of the three you list I would go for the Zetec.

there was a chap on here using a 1.6 16v vx ecotec engine in an indy i think. Seems like a good engine. light, cheap, little over 100bhp as standard,
but the standard inlet system is extremely restrive and a lot of power can be released with bike carbs\throttle bodies and exaust. Plentiful supply
from corsas\vectras\tigras, pretty new and not too expensive.
See http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Main.htm for tuning options. expensive but they report very impressive results. 170bhp seems like it's easily
achieved and more is available.
Not a bad option imo.

I had a 1700 Xflow in the last car, but am going Zetec in this one.
The zetec can be cheap if you look around(got my 65k mile 2 litre of ebay for £150).
light compared to the pinto, and from what i've read 200bhp is possible without massive expense.

I would say either Zetec or 4age. Both are stonking engines for these cars.
