Pinto engine mounts

If I where to make some engine for my 2.0 pinto engine what thickness steel should I used for the base and engine plates? I am assuming 1.5mm RHS is strong enough for the conecting piece.

Whilst I am here has anyone got any pics of a original sierra gearbox mount modded to fit chassis?

Sorry if the questions have been covered before, I just have no clue when it comes to types, stregnths and sizes of metal.

I would use 5 or 6mm for the plates, and 3mm box/tube for the connecting piece. Last thing you need is for the motor to start leaping about, or dragging on the road.

Is box tube better than round tube or is there no difference?

I've got a picture of my home made engine mounts in my photo archive. They are for a pinto. I used round section just because it looks nicer !

rubber mounts, one was from an escort(40mm) the other was an unknown source. You will need to lower the engine in first in order to adjust the position, then get rubbers of the correct thickness.HTH

I dont think in the context of fabricating engine mounts that it would matter either way as to whether you used square or round. My post was not clear but what I meant by "square/tube" was either square or round, should be more precise in my statements. Leaves stage left, wearing hang dog expression.
