Rover V8 mods
I have a standard SD1 motor, and am looking at issues with fitting it into my +4 frame.
- Can the long nose of the water pump pulley (I assume the fan went on here) just be hack-sawed off?
- I have seen an installation where the alternator was repositioned at the bottom right instead of sticking out miles on the top-left (looking at the
engine from the front). What options are there for moving the alternator?
Thanks as usual for any advice!

The aternator can go anywhere you like as long as the pulley's line up. It can face either way too, as long as it turns correctly. Basically
whatever it takes to get it in.

No probs at all - just take a hacksaw/angle grinder to it
Re the alternator, I made up a bracket as can be seen in photo, but am thinking of moving it to lower, nearside (don't even thing about offside,
steering rack will then cause a headache).

the difference between p6/p5 and sd1 front cover is the angle of dange of the oil filter; vertically on the p6 but juts forwards on the sd1. sd1 has
slightly larger capacity oil pump with difference dizzy dirve; you can modify the dizzto go from p6 to sd1 but not the other way unless you can weld
on to the dizzy shaft.
you can get kit to increase volume of the p6 oil pump but very hard to find.
p6 has plate for fuel pump but sd1 has this shut in the casting - shold be possble to grind it out I guess but easier to use electric fuel pump.
the p6 water pump has the shorted nose.
I hve p6 cover for a minimal sum if you or anyone else wants.
