X Flow Engine mounting rubbers.
Can anybody recommend any ?
I've seen some nice flat round ones that look just the job on this forum but can I find em again? can I B()gger !.
Been thro the stores at the local shops but no joy. I'll know it when I see it, just aint seen it yet... Hint .... any pics?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Never satisfied you see .. spent 18 years looking for the perfect toolbox ...... one day maybe.

Standard part at a good Ford garage m8.
Ask for engine mount rubbers for a mk5 cortina. think they were £6ish..

I believe that early Land Rover engine mounting bushes are popular, as well. Cheap too, if you get them from a non-LR source.
They are the usual rubber cylinder with metal plates bonded to each side, with threaded bits coming out.
(but I think mine are the Cortina ones, as mentioned above.)

The ones MK use are Fiesta gearbox mounts.
Rectangular lump about 70mmx50mmx40mm tall.

Does anyone know the approximate diameter and depth of the cortina engine mount. It sounds ideal for my requirements.

The mounts I've got are 3" dia, 1.5" high (obviously designed pre-metric!).
The threaded bits are M8 (so much for pre-metric)
I believe that they are 'tina ones - but take further guidance.

the ford granda V6 (and possibly the 4 cyl also) uses this mount.....it has m10 studs about 40 - 45mm long each side
This example was fitted to a 1987 E reg V6 2.4 litre granada

They're used on sierra's too, but I'd deemed them too big and wobbly to be useful.

The size wasnt a problem.....
the wobble was!
I recon its cos I didnt angle the mounts to point at the top towards the engine, like the original application. These are mounted flat. I think if
they are angled a bit, the engine settles into a shallow 'V' between the pair of mounts, and the weight of the engine stabilises it
all.
my solution was to make up an engine stabiliser bar - bit like a mini has. Its fitted to the two top bolts of the bell housing, at the rear of the
engine, and the passenger side top engine compartment rails. Its fitted with mini mount rubbers.
The engine is REALLY solid and doesnt move a bit using this scheme.

Steve - Angling them would probably have the desired effect. On the 4 cylinder Fords they're used vertical as you did, and they're pretty
sloppy.
