Distance from VR sensor end to flywheel

Can anyone enlighten me as to the correct distance for the end of the VR sensor to the flywheel on a zetec engine?
Ours seems very close to the holes which it needs to measure from - dunnell flywheel fitted. I would guess at approx 1 - 2 mm at the most. but no sparkys as of yet !!!

Cheers

About 1mm is correct - basically, as near as possible without risk of hitting it, or collecting bits in-between.

If you're not getting a spark, try reversing the 2 VR sensor wires.

HTH,
David

Most VR sensors need an air gap of 0.5mm-1.5mm....

If you get it too close the end of the sensor gets shaved off- which suprisingly doesn't seem to make it work any differently!!! I think my speedo VR sensor now has an airgap of 0.000001mm due to this!!! Oh well!

That's self-adjusting. If anyone asks, you designed it like that
