I cant say much as have yet to start building my car but i beleive you can put pretty much any engine into a locost. The only thing is i think some engines may require some chassis mods.
I am considering an aj16 jag engine in mine.

The best choice, of course, is a Rover V8

ANy that fit?

My answer would be anything that fits!
I guess its all about connecting things up!
The 200SX is RWD which helps so gear box to rear wheels I would see as the only issue...unless your thinking of an adaptor to a ford 5 speed..
If not your into prop shaft mods..i.e. shortening etc...
Also how big is the Nissan Gear box?

Anyway..I think its a top idea but having owned to 200SX S14s..go for the 2.0 and don't be a girl! LOL
By the time you've spent trying to get 200 HP from an 1800 you could have bought a 2.0lt for less and its 204hp standard and more importantly with a cat!!
But if the budget dictates as offen it does on these builds the 1800 is still gonna be a very very scarey car indeed!

I wish you all the luck!!

I still want to see a Subi up front.... stuff the fact that they are a little wide...

Can you imagine 340hp in a 7?

Mines a mere 156hp and it scares the living bageebies out of me and me any passanger whenever I take her out!!

<---- For Sale :~( See for sale Section)

He who walks in front of my Locost 7 will get tyred. He who walk behind me will get exhausted. He who drive it like hell will get there very quickly!

If you're still thinking of making your own chassis, pick your engine and drive train first and build the chassis around it. That way you don't have to faff around trying to crow bar stuff into a space it was never designed for.

im considering the s13 because its so cheap to buy one. I had one last year in very good condition and i mean good only paid 1400 for it. As for getting the power up thats easy, remove the t25 and fit the t28 along with a decent boost controller and a good setup will take it well above 200bhp.

I can pick up one for only a few hundred quid. going to get under my mates and measurer the gearbox up but i think it wont be too hard to fit one and it will be a very quick car lol.

Nice. how have you gone about the noise. i had a s13 last year with a straight through exhaust and it was loud as hell. What did the megasquirt set you back?

I haven't seen a scooby doo engine in one yet, and I can imagine that would be pretty awesome, (if not some unique body work to hide the heads ) plus a nice low C of G

unleaded 170 for the 2.3
leaded 182 for the 2.3
unleaded 155 for the 2 litre

turbo ++ on the 2.3 from factory 195 - but realistically available on all B230FT with some extra boost

good torque range too

a modest amount of tuning can be had , stock fuel system can support 250 hp - which is the limit on the gearbox , but obviously in a lighter car not a problem .

Thats the same motor as me CA18DET . They are a good motor , you can get more hp out of them than you can get out of a 2.0 SR20DET.
I did find the motor was a bit tall but I sorted it by lifting chassis sides up by 25 mm.

If you're going to build you own chassis, and are considering making slight alterations to dimensions (like +4" wider, maybe longer engine bay), then maybe think about a BMW V8 - getting cheap as chips
