Yes, various places you can buy brand new 1.8 Zetecs. About £750+

You can, but how about a cheap brand new 2.0 instead?

Darren @ GTS can also do some good engine prices.

I got my brand new one for £400. It was sent from ford to a company in birmingham to do some testing on. The deal was cancelled but the engine was never picked up. It sat around for a year gathering dust before i got it for £400. Then spent about another £600 getting it running with carbs. I would suspect a decent bike engine set up is much cheaper.

No it will be the day it came off the production line. Ford can tell you the exact date given the engine number and an admin fee. I suspect manufacture date of any new engine you get now to be well after Aug 95 so it will be a cat and injection to get through SVA.

I wouldn't get too stuck on the engine being brand new..60,000 miles and they are just getting run in. I'm stripping a 112,000 mile one and it is like brand new still...honing marks on the bores, no marks on the cams...You can get them for very little s/h. There was a rebuilt 2.0 short engine on Ebay which had a buy now for £135, get a head and with the rest get some nice hot cams.

I've got a brand new zetec 2.0L sat in the garage gathering dust. It's the same spec as advertised by GTS (By the way that's £750 + VAT on their website - nearer a grand to you & me).
u2u me if you're interested, it'll be a lot cheaper than that!
