Which clutch release bearing do I need?

I`m using a 2.0 Zetec (silvertop) with standard 2.0 zetec flywheel and standard 2.0 zetec clutch assembly as if the whole lot came straight out of a mondeo. This will be bolted to the type 9 gearbox so what clutch release bearing do I need? Any part no.s would also help. Thanks.

I am not sure that will work. Are the splines not different on the 2.0 Mondeo clutch.

I had mine lightened and redrilled to fit a pinto clutch. It is easy them, pinto clutch and pinto bearing.

Other options include a 1.8 Zetec flywheel and clutch with a transit bearing.

I am glad to see someone else has gone for the 2.0 rather than follow the easier, but less fruitful, route to 1.8 Zetec. You will know it was the right decision when you feel the torque.

On the 2.0 blacktop zetec this combo certainly works no problems.

Standard 2.0 Flywheel & Clutch. CCT303 Release bearing. DOHC starter. Burton Spigot Bearing. Roberts your fathers brother.

People claim the 2.0 flywheel is too heavy. I'll tell you in a few months.

Cheers

The splines are identical to the Pinto set up ie 25.4mm x 23 splines. I originally did fit the 1.8 zetec flywheel & pressure plate with a 2.0 Pinto clutch and pinto release bearing but it gave up the ghost on the rolling road so something was amiss. As I now have to strip it all down this weekend and fit a new clutch i`ve decided to fit the standard 2.0 flywheel, pressure plate and clutch plate. This is because the difference in weight between the 2.0 & 1.8 set ups is only 1.1kg, not several kilo`s as some people make believe. It`s not worth the hassle for 1kg lighter. I was told that the CCT303 should work fine but wanted to find others with the same set up that can confirm it will be ok.
SeaBass - are you on the road yet, have you tried selecting gears etc?
Thanks for the replies so far.

Nope not yet - but I know Big Stu on here ran pretty much exactly the same setup in his locost and it worked fine.

Cheers

I removed my engine today and fitted the standard 2.0 zetec flywheel and clutch. I fitted the transit release bearing (CCT303) too. It`s now all back in the car and rebuilt and I managed a quick spin out tonight to test it. Gear selection seems fine so looks like the transit bearing was the right choice.
