type 9 problem?

Hi guys,
Im trying to refit my type 9 to zetec, i noticed the input spline wasnt aligned and remembered that last time i just moved the gear lever and then the splines aligned to the clutch when i did this, this time nothing happened the input spline doesn't rotate, any ideas what could be wrong?

Have you tried putting it in gear then turning the output shaft at the rear of the gearbox.

yes, whether its in gear or not, if i turn the the output spline the input spline rotates, but i remember being able to rotate the input spline by moving the gear knob last time and now i cant do that, just dont want to put engine and gearbox back in if there is something wrong?

uhhh??

thats just a question of damm luck!!

that the parts didn''t align up totally and by selecting the gear you made them linup in this case the easyest to move part was the input shaft..
