Zetec Transmission
I know this has been covered before, please excuse my ignorance, and the search was un-enlightening
I'm located in north america, so I don't have access to many of the options you have.
Purchased a 2.0L zetec from a 2000 Focus
I'm told that the bellhousing from a Cosworth Sierra is the same, and will bolt up to a commonly avaliable T5 trans.
Is the starter location correct with this bellhousing? and what flywheel/pressureplate/clutch should I use? will the unit that comes with the zetec
work?
Or should I forget this combination and use something different?
Thanks all

That combination should be fine.
Starter position should be OK but you may need to get one from a CVH-based car.
WRT clutch, it's going to be a case of mix and match. I'm sure there will be a combination of pressure/friction plates that will give a
working clutch. Just not 100% sure what that would be for a zetec/T5 box. If the diameter of the clutch is the same then you may be able to use a
standard Cossie one...similarly if the splines on the T5 match the MTX75 in the focus then you'll be fine with what you already have on the
engine.
Sorry it's not definitive, but that combination should definitely be a "goer"

Here is my setup. It may be of use to you.
1994 1.8 zetec from an Escort. (easier than converting a 2.0L)
Type 9 and bellhousing from the Sierra.
Capri clutch release bearing.
1.6/1.8 Mondeo clutch plate and cover.
Starter from a 1.8 cvh Sierra. This mates with the 1.8 flywheel but not the 2.0L I understand.
Parts required here in the UK to fit the 2.0L are a 1.8 flywheel, waterpump and sump from an Escort.
Escort sump is shorter and doesn't need chopping. Not sure about the US Focus though.
Try this website as it may be of help, it certainly clued me up!

Sounds like a bit of a minefield INFO HERE but there
seems to be a couple of solutions.
That was the first thing that came up in a search of that forum, there's a lot of info there.

well I have a source that can get me the MT75 for less than the bellhousing and tranny as separate items, I had to convince them that the mt75 was
avaliable in RWD, not just 4wd.
It'd be a little difficult to get a replacement if I break it thou, but its the easiest way to do it I think.
Hopefully I won't have ti cur my chassis up too much to make it fit.

If you can make the T5 fit the ratios (especially first) are much better, Type 9 and MT75 are the same ratios, first 3.6 or V6 box 3.3 T5 is 2.9

Dont think you will brake the Mt75
Make sure the box is from 4 cylinder and not the v6 as the v6 will NOT fit.
