So what is a reasonable oil temperature?
Looking for a few opinions - I'm sure I'll find a few here...
Had a good and enthusiastic blast on the open road yesterday, and did a temp check off the side of my sump as soon as I stopped (using an IR spot
thermometer). It read 97 degrees C, measured in a couple of places on the sump.
Is this within normal operating parameters?
cheers,
David

No problem with that, up to around 120 is normal as oil gets squirted under the very hot piston crowns etc.

Normal is about 10 degrees above water temp -- but oil temperature tends to build up during a prolonged burn up.

That would fit - water temp is usually around 88 - 90.
