engine mounts...

weekend before last I wanted to move my engine up a bit on the passenger side as the exhaust had a tendance to know againt the hole in the side panel.

well doing that I found that the bolts securing the mounting to the engine were finger tight so undid them, slapped on stud lock and did them up. made a washer that fitted inside the slot for the engien mount bolt to raise angine up a bit. on passenger side took a bolt out then due to misalignment of mount/engine took about 1 hour, EYS ONE WHOLE FREAKING HOUR to get the bolt back in - rainsed maiount/engine is different way then got it in,.

anyways, I notice that the rubber on teh passendier side was starting to part from the steel bracket so is looking like a new mount is needed.

Can I be a tight get and remove the mount and drill a bolt or two to hold the rubber in place?

If the rubber has de-laminated you have to ask whether it's gone/going soggy anyway so the bolt-through fix will only work temporarily.
I suspect you'll have more vibration as a result. Racers use solid engine mounts without too many problems although long term have been known to break the mounts.

don't be a tight arse replace it, next your going to ask if you can superglue it back together
