3 bottles of red wine, ebay and a LDV box I didn't want.

I got absolutey hammered on red wine last night and got into a bidding war between myself and the reserve price.

Yes I have suffered today. I am also about to be £50 poorer due to being so drunk I needed a V8 engine.

Is this any good?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110117217983&sspagename=ADME:L:AAQ:UK:1

Is there anything on it that is any good?

Is that £50 quid I will never see again?

I am old enough to know better.

IIRC that's the most used V8 gearbox, but could be wrong. For £50 you should be alright.
If all else fails just re-ebay it! Just remember to emphasis the V8 bit!

You'll need a different bellhousing if you want to fit it to a Rover V8. The starter motor fits diagonally opposite to the one shown in your auction! You'll want one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/rover-v8-lt77-Bellhousing_W0QQitemZ290110933959QQihZ019QQcategoryZ31348QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

So technically it WON'T fit it to a Rover V8 as they claim...... don't pay up as it's not as described???? Just an option for you.....

I don't intend not paying up - it was my fault I bought it. I don't like non payers and would not do that to the guy.

Assuming it is not too knackered - is it worth that money. I am sure the V8 boys would have been all over it if it was any good though.

A fool and his money are soon parted, even quicker if he is a drunken fool.

If I drink enough next weekend I may win an engine!

It will also fit with a landrover Series III V8 adpator plate, the overall length will be a couple of inches less than the standard housing when you have finished.

I think if you just change the bell housing the first motion shaft may be short.

Aren't the internals of that lt77 box not the same as the landrover one? Another option to sell it on maybe?

I bought a crossflow engine on ebay after 2 bottles of red wine and was lucky 25,000 mile engine for £30.Seller was dissapointed at price serves him right for ending auction at 3am on a sunday morning Dont think i will ebay under the influence again though

The adaptor plates sound like hen's teeth!

I am way out of my depth here, can anyone recommend some good sites so I can find out what I have lumbered myself with?

You will be lucky to find an adaptor for less than £50 on fleabay.

ratio's are also a little different, you would be best off either claiming its not as advertised or collect and sell on as the remote is also pretty pants to an SD1 rover change.

Sorry

All sorted, the sellers were great. I paid their fees and gave them a few quid for their trouble.

Ebay needs a breathalyser.
