Rover V8 - rev limiter?
Hi, can anyone tell me whether there will be a rev limiter on my twin-plenum Rover V8 removed from a SD1? I'm running the standard ECU etc as
removed from the car - it revs around so quick I don't want to buzz the engine! If it hasn't, I'll get shopping....
Cheers

I have never run a limiter on a Rover V8,(not sure about racing), but don't the hydraulic tappets limit your revs?

If you still have the standard hydraulic lifters, you shouldn't need a rev limiter as they'll "pump up" at about 5500rpm and
should prevent engine overrevving.
Hopefully, someone will confirm my longheld belief.

Dunno - all I know is that it raced around to 6k without trying and I reckon you could easily get carried away without realising!

the lifters will stop it over revving and if its an sd1 motor i wouldnt go over 5k without some bottom end work as the main caps are pretty poor and
will move around at high revs

My Dad's old SD1 would easily reach 6k RPM but there's not any point in going over 5500 or so as max power is at around 5250. A rev
limiter might be a good idea but I don't think it is essential as discussed the lifters will restrict revs quite well.
Cheers,
Craig.
