More micra woes

hey again, have been on holiday for the last week, in a caravan in weymouth just down the coast! was nice to get away from the uni work etc.

anyway i had just finished fixing the micra that we run, and its run perfectly with no probs except its had problems starting.

if its left overnight and started the next day the starter motor turns then almost imediatly stalls. it can take a few goes to get it started, however for the rest of the day its ok.

am guessing its something to do with the solenoid? i think the starter motor is ok as it still turns and starts the car. any opionons would be appreciated!

will hopefully get a few months of a hassle free car when i fix this!

the motor brushes? if it turns then stalls, then there might be one missing or malfunctioning...

damn, thats what my dad said. i was hoping it would be something that didn't require the startor motor to be removed! will have to find out how difficult it is.

can you replace the brushes yourself? or would be easier to get a working starter motor from a breakers?

easier to get a working one from the breakers, not a bad job to do as long as you can get at it.

have looked in to it and its fairly easy to change, just 3 bolts and its on top of the gearbox and easy to get at, much better than my saab at least, it was so difficult to get at, even with the engine up in the air on a hoist!

am debating whether to get it reconditioned or to do it myself or just get a second hand one?
