The only way forward is to cut the floor out. Just move the floor up a few inches and job's good 'un! Since the car was never designed to have all that under the backend, you'll have to re-design it to make it all fit. It'd have to come up/out for the shockers anyway.

If it's a rally car,plenty.If it's a race car,not much.If its a road car somewhere in between.

I suppose 4 inches of travel if it's going to be a fast road/track car!

to add to the above - if I were you - I would cut the entire rear floor away. Start with your suspension pickup points, then consider your structural requirements (where to mount suspension/diff etc) and then cover the whole lot in Aluminium.

That way you will have saved a load of weight aswell, and it wil be a damn sight easier to work on!!!

i now thinking of just making a whole subframe the size of the boot. and then just cut the whole floor out and then just weld the frame in it would be a lot easer. then i can test it all of the car and get it all right adam

Have a look at Bogg Bros and MK Engineering websites for examples of how Fiestas have been converted to RWD. Basically, cut the rear floor pan out, make a subframe that houses/locates the suspension points, diff carrier etc. This will give you a stiff structure to work from. Then fit removable interior panels for future access.
