Clutch release bearing questions

Evening folks.

I am part way through cleaning up the gearbox from an MK1 MR2 to go in my car, and I have just removed the clutch release bearing to get the last 90ks worth of dust and crap out from behind it. Whilst it is out, I brushed the dust off it, and noticed it is a little bit notchy when rotating it. Is it worth replacing it? It still spins freely, although no where near s smooth as the wheel bearings I installed a while back.

Secondly, what is the going rate for a clutch release bearing? And, what other bits do they come with?

Cheers
Andy

Wash it out with solvent/petrol and if it still sounds rough, replace it!
It'snot too easy to find them on their own. They usually hang aroundin a gang of components. A CRB, cover plate and friction plate. You may need to phone a few factors or try National Clutches.

Agreed - even if it keeps working, that annoying, grating whine will drive you nuts in short order. Pick up a new one

Me thinks sire a complete 3 in 1 would be a better idea

Well, after taking the clutch apart last night, I would agree. The friction lining is looking a bit worn, so a new one does seem like a good idea.

Onto the next question. Is there any good makes/bad makes of clutch kits? is it worth going for a genuine toyota one over one from the local parts place? I'm not doing much to the engine, other than modifying the inlet and exhaust to fit under my engine cover, and swapping the stock engine management for a Megasquirt version.

Cheers
Andy
