Mating VAG to type 9
This might have been done before, but this is an interesting link for those who like the VW engines.

Doesnt look cheap at face value but suspect a VW engine could give great power and probs be a cheaper option than a duratec - assuming it will fit
under bonnet of course!

Don't count on it, VAG engines often collect silly money, the better 1.8T's go for well over a grand. Add the cost of the bellhousing and
a duratec is probably going to be about the same if not less. Shame, they are cracking engines

don't underestimate the older VAG engines - ABF 16V (Mk3 Gti) gave 170bhp on 'a chip' (150bhp standard) rumour was VW down tuned it
when they launched coz it was making the VR6 looks a bit pants....... is quite a tall engine though so might be a tight squeeze!

alphax in holland has a adapter plate to mate a MT75 to a 1.8T VAG engine, much better choice then the T9 power wise

i always loved my Golfs, was never into Fords as a young 'un. For that reason the idea of VAG power appeals more to me. When i was choosing what
kit to build 3 years ago i wanted to use a 1.8 16V KR engine i had lying around but couldnt find any info how to mate it to a type 9. Iam so pleased
some options are starting to be found.
Type 9 box appeals as there are some upgrades you can fit, i guess the next step after that would be a T5 box rather than MT75 but thats just my
inexperienced oppinion.
The only downer on fitting a VW or Audi lump is the cost compared to a Ford, but they are great engines and probs worth a bit extra.
AlphaX - Ill have a look at your website? Sounds interesting.
