type 9 wires

hi ive got a wire coming out of my type 9 gearbox but whats it for. and on the other side there a sort of fitting with a bar about 10mm sticking out is there something missing.

Are the wires connected with a round black rubber plug? If so, reversing light switch.

Small bar sticking out at a downward angle? If so, thats your speedo drive.

Thats assuming you're talking about the back of the box, under the gearlever.

yes thats the one but the speedo drive thing doesnt look like theres a clip or anything for something to plug in. ill have a better look tomorrow in the light. i didnt take much notice of it when i put it in lol.i just taped the wires up out the way.

The outer cable on the speedo cable has a conical end on it. This is held into the circular housing with an internal circlip. Oh and by the way, get the circlip from a gearbox place motor factors etc. I tried an off the shelf one and it kept popping out.

The bar that sticks out should have a small square hole in the end of it. The inner cable of the speedo cable fits in there.
