Zetec 2.0ltr and 1.8ltr

Hi,

Just wondering if

a) a 1.8ltr (blacktop) oil pump would fit in a 2.0ltr

b) would a 1.8ltr blacktop be as powerful as a 1994 phase 1 2.0ltr if it had 2.0ltr cams in.

A. Most likely not, the bottom end is a different casting on the Phase 3.
B. Yes, but try the stock 1.8 1st, unless you really enjoy shimming followers, the Phase 3 has solid shimmed followers.
Rgds.
Pete.

1) No Idea
2) Some will say yes, but I bet none of them have tried it back to back. With a similar head and cams the 1.8 will have similar volumetric efficiency. In a standard setup limited by inlet or exhaust then the answer may well be yes. However, in a free flowing system with TB's and tubular manifold, not a chance. The 1.8 will be down on both power and torque compared to the 2.0.

As they say, there is no substitute for CC's

It should also note that the 2.0 has the same stroke but a bigger bore which should also allow it to rev more freely.

Summer's here!!!!
