New gearbox

My gearbox needs to be replaced, probably got a few hundred left in it so a trip to the Ring at the end of August will mark its demise I'm sure. Trailering there & back so not worried about getting there & back!

The last box (a so called pro competition box) lasted 3500 miles with 240 Bhp and 175 ft/lbs of torque and a red line of 7800 rpm so whatever I go for needs to handle this power and to last beyond 3500 miles.

I'm thinking of a 2.8 T9 from BGH Geartech with a 2.83 1st and a 0.87 5th gear, their E6 Road & Track heavy duty product with a short input shaft for the XE & SBD bell. edit to say is the case of the 2.8 T9 variant the same as the 2.0 T9 variant?

Anyone care to suggest a better product (for c£1000) or advice on the above?

And yes I've got a T9 with 24k on it sat in the garage but it aint gonna last long so seems pointless for the effort of swapping only to swap again after a few hundred miles when that gives up the ghost.

Ta muchly.

get yourself a Toyota W58 from a Celica or Supra. Should be cheap to buy and then spend the lump on a bellhousing and getting it in the car.

People use them with Chevy V8's so well up to the power.

There is a picture of it in this thread;

a getrag with a detachable bellhousing , would take the power , but the ratios are crap , read 1st is too low for serious work .

a T5 (cossie box) will definitely stand upto that power , have good ratios , and parts are available from quaife .

if you look further affield ie the states pick up a v8 t5 - 2.9 first , for about $300 dollars , shipping is the killer .
