Pump location

Where is it recommended that the fuel pump be?? It's an electric zxr pump so should it be near the tank or near the engine or makes no difference??

Thanks

Im going to put mine near the tank low down. Ive been told bike pumps push fuel and are normally gravity fed from the tank (or at least they are on carb models apparently).

I had also planned to put mine (ZX9R pump) at the rear right next to the tank.

However it is difficult to really get it lower than the tank. Is there an issue with it being level with the top of the tank ?

Ill probs make a bracket and mount mine just above the bottom of the tank -ish. Most people say they are a push pump so i would have thought they'd struggle to push the fuel if mounted high up and the fuel level is low.
No direct experience, just what ive researched.

If mounted high i guess the fuel could drain out when car is stood. Would this cause a problem. Being gravity fed from a bike tank i would have though they are always full of fuel so not sure if they like pumping air at first.

Mine is on the bottom rail next to the tank at the back. That way the petrol runs into the pump under gravity and gets pushed up to the carbs.

In my last Striker I put the pump on the top rail next to carbs and let it pull the fuel up and from the back. Didn't cause any problems and didn't sound to be over stressed.

Thanks Guys.

At the moment it is in the engine bay under the carbs area & seems to be fine. It's just I went to a car meet last night & a mate of mine commented that he had a Facet pump in the bay years ago & it was overworked & lasted about 6 months.

Maybe I'll pencil in moving it in the very near future then.
