fitting a new engine

herrrm woops, giving the car a bit of beans last night off the roundabouts and lights giving the boy racers a laught i think i might pressed the loud peddle to hard

lucky for me i have a spare engine as this one has a con rod hanging out the side of it

mental note red line is now 6k not 7k lol woops

that should teach me not to tw4t around with the turbo bleed valve.

should be an easy swap i think, i heard the other engine running and intended to recon it before fitting but now i might just drop it in lol.

Thank you for posting this! Now people will believe me when I say turbo's will make your engine break

Not saying you shouldn't have one but maybe a little less boost next time

i was going to change it in the next few weeks anyway as it was getting tired and i want my mate to set the mega squirt up properly so it needed doing and i was driving it like a to55er knowing that it was going to get changed.

so i've got to be at church at 11 in the morning so i think i can get it chaged before tomorrow evening......

best not go to the pub tonight

Hmm if the exisiting engine was in a similar condition i.e a bit weak, maybe you'd be better off re-conditioning this one before you put it in.. or certainly consider it over the winter period otherwise it might quickly go in the same direction leaving you with 2 knackered blocks

A really strong turbo engine would be the 1.4L 8v, that came with the Fiat Uno turbo and the Punto. I've seen it run 1.8Bar boost, with just a little compression drop to help, and a ball bearing turbo. Goes like a rocket.

I had a feeling you would say that lol

Do you know what boost it held before it went pop? Or are you just going to back it of a bit for the next engine

22psi lol i was told not to run it over 14psi and about 10 - 12psi normal driving

6psi was standard

it had to be done the old engine was a bit noisy anyway.

to be fair it won't have been the boost that broke the rod unless it forced a bearing to pick up, more likely due to sustained revs
