Bit of smoke at high revs
Ford Xflow
All looks fine unless the engine is really revved high - then a small amount of white smoke.
I think this is probably down to the chopped sump and higher oil level splashing up at higher revs.
Temped to let out half a pint of oil just for SVA.
This is an 80s engine with proof of age on log book. Is 'visible smoke' something they would check for by revving its nuts off anyway?!!

you don't say what rpm.
SVA test is interested in emissions at idle - for crossflow this will be visual and noise at 2/3 of max power.
having said that the tester may be concerned if your engine is belching huge plumes of smoke during the speed run or other time but that would be due
to tester discretion I guess.

When I shortened my x-flow sump I did add a bit of extra volume. However, the dipstick no longer showed a sensible value, and I filled it to the top
mark. Later on I was accelerating hard up a hill, and left a 2-lane wide sausage of white smoke behind me, as the oil went up the rear cylinder bore!
Took enough oil out to put the level exactly half-way between the 2 dipstick marks, and it's been fine for the last 4,500 miles.

ialso have issues when i fill to top mark on dipstick (Pinto with shortened and inc capacity sump). No problem if i control it between half way and
empty (lower mark). Id try that first then you know nowt major wrong.
