Fury V8, help identify this hydraulic clutch

Sorry, don't even know the name for this particular bit in English

Fury V8 again.

I hope that the pic is good enough.

It's leaking and as a consequence the clutch pedal has lost some travel and now the clutch doesn't disengage 100%. Because of this, I can't select 1st or 2nd gears with engine started, 3rd is fine although the idle rpms decrease just a bit (engine trying to pull car). No way I could try reverse.

So I have a few questions for you today

What is that exactly so I can order a replacement?

Now, the clutch is a rather heavy one, the guy I bought the car from told me that he thinks he fitted a too heavy clutch, from the car advert that's: "Mclaud billet machined flywheel and uprated clutch (New standard AP clutch slipped and was replaced due to torque of new engine)".

The fact that it's a heavy thing to move, may that have to do with the failure? Do these bits stress or are they pretty sturdy? Is that maybe just normal ageing? Would you consider upgrading to a bigger thing, do they exist?

Finally, the garage that will replace that is a normal place, i.e. not happy to adapt a different bit, they are happy only to replace the failed one for another which is mechanically compatible. What do you think, buy a new one, same type, job done? Or should I expect future trouble, then best to look for a special garage?

Thanks a lot.

Slave cylinder from Rover SD1 V8 or TR7V8 should do nicely. Sort of thing any motor factors might have, otherwise Rimmer Bros will be able to supply.

Oh ps should be able to get one for £20 / 30 in the uk.

You can get reseal kit looking at the outside of the unit I would not bother going down this route.

We used to get though quit a few of these on the v8 buggy due to driver abuse.

Also looks like someone has had the release lever fall orff, then cut a hoel to put it back on again without separating engine and box...

The Wedge boyos do it as you have to remove the engine to get the box off in a Wedge.

Seems like a bodge to me: id heave the lump out and do some blingery...

Sorry, also when you say SD1 does that mean I can tell the guy to get the slave cylinder of any eighties Land Rover V8? People here tend to ask "what's the car and what year is it" when you want a replacement, rather than what's the engine or whatever else so if you don't have a car model and a year that's a problem.

Thanks for all your patience.

Not damaged but it comes out of the slave cylinder there appears to be some braze where someone has made a fitting?
