Using a 1600cc Fiesta motor

Oh all knowing ones from across the great pond. Has any one converted a mid 70's Ford Fiesta 1600 Kent motor to use in a RWD Locost? My Locost has a 711M 1300 Kent crossflow in it and I would like a few more ponys . 1600cc Kent RWD motors are impossible to find here in the States because of Formula Ford Racing but I did locate a 771M??? 1600 Kent crossflow Fiesta FWD motor. I plan on pulling the lump and trans that I have and installing a T9 5 spd and this Fiesta motor and use M/C carbs (not TB's) . Any help, suggestions, or ideas would be appreciated, Russ

I think its relatively straight forward, apart from the crankshaft that is. RWD cranks have a recess in them for the spigot bearing. FWD engines don't need one so some had a blanking plug in the RWD hole, and some just didn't have a hole. So you might need to get a spigot bearing hole machined into the end of the crank. You won't know until you take it out.

Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

the 771M block is the FWD use from a fiesta.
Some info on this thread here:

Ideally change the crankshaft to a 1600 RWD one.

something in the back of my memory tells me there is some difference in the timing cover? the fwd being shallower so if you use the wrong internals, the gears grind through the cover - shouldn't affect you if you use your orginal cover and gears.

or something like that..... ? someone will come along and agree/correct me.

Water pump outlet is different --- not a major problem
Flywheel is different.
Starter ring gear ?
Crank is different
Block may not have bosses for RWD engine mounts
Sump ---- baffles ?
None of this is major parts from the 1300 will go a long way.
