The right carb for my xflow 1300cc?
Hi,
Having recently passed the SVA and got the car on the road I am in development mode. I have a 1300 crossflow with the standard single choke carb and
am in search of a little more power. Can anyone tell me which of the twin choke carbs I should be trying to upgrade to? Also, is this the best place
to start to get a bit more power (the engine is absolutely standard apart from a 1300 sport exhaust manifold).
Regards,
Tony

What to do depends on how much you want to spend.
have you considered bike carbs? I would if I were in your position.

Weber 32/36 DGV (manual choke) or DGAV (auto choke) with suitable inlet manifold would be a good start point, followed by a cam change I would
suggest.

I've got a 32/36 DGAV you can have for the cost of posting. If you are interested U2U me.
It's not new needs a bit of a clean up and checking, automatic choke but it can be converted to manual.

Remember not to go too big. Unless you're revving the nuts off the engine with a big lairy cam you don't need a ridiculously big carb. In
fact if you do the power may even suffer because you won't have enough air flow to give a proper venturi effect and fuel atomisation will suffer
as a result.....
For the price of a big lairy pair of Webers you can go Megasquirt EFi anyway Postage money 32/36 sounds about right though, and even more Locost!!

I'm just about to upgrade my 1300. I'm going for a BCF2 camshaft, megajolt and a single 45DCOE on a home made manifold. I've got a
crossover manifold but it won't fit under my bonnet.
It would be good to see some photo's of your car Tony, have you got any you could put in your archive?
