Zetec cam swap.

I have as you may know I have a 1.8 zetec in my MNR. I have a spare 2.0 head that I intended to swap the cams over.

If I swap the cams over do I need to swap the followers over as well? I'm just wondering about the clearance? As they are hydraulic is this important?

I understand putting a 2.0 head on a 1.8 drops the compression due to a different shape head. Is that right?

If they are both silver top Zetecs then just the cams can be swapped.

Silver tops have hydraulic followers.I would swap them with the cam making sure that the folowers are fitted to the same position in the new head, you will have no clearance settings to worry about but it is aways best to keep cam and followers together.

Certainly on the blacktop, the 1.8 head raises the CR on a 2.0 block.

If you're talking hydraulics then you must be silvertop, but I would expect the CR relationship to be the same.

Followers should always remain with the lobe that originally ran on it, so swap cam and followers, keeping the followers in the same positions.
