The type 9 5 speed is longer and much heavier so you will ned to shorten your prop shaft and have a different end fitted so it will go in the gearbox.

Worth it if you like to cruise!

I fitted a 5 speed in mine and it has made it a much better car on long runs, but if you are only going to be doing local country roads then it's not worth the bother.

So, depends what you are going to use it for.

Didn't that used to be Davrus' car?

I see you are in Bedfordshire. Why not come along to a Northants group meeting, you'd be very welcome.

Beware the low first gear of the 5 speed boxes, the 4 speed box is better through the gears.

A cheaper option could be to change the diff.

What ratio do you run?

Bloody football!

If the car was set up for a 1300, perhaps a 4.4 or 4.1 maybe fitted.

To give the car longer legs, then a 3.9 would help.

Assuming it's a road car then it depends how much motorway / high speed work you do.

If not a lot, then I would say "no". 4 Speed box suited my car fine everywhere except the motorway.

If it's a track car, then really depends on the tracks you're using. Suck it for a while and see.
