Locost and MI16
Hello all
I recently bought a part built lotus seven frame
and a bunch of BMW bits (straight 6 engine, box, diff etc)
It has been part way converted to use the BMW diff
for an IRS set-up but I want to use a Peugeot MI16 engine
rather than the rather heavy BMW straight 6.
Have any of you used the MI16 engine, I would like to get
some dimensions since I know it is a rather tall engine
and may cause problems when trying to fit in a se7en.
also some dimension of the output shaft end would be handy
so I can see if the BMW gearbox will attach with an adapter
plate or possibly use a Renault gearbox ?
any help will be much appreciated
Thanks
Glenn

Hi Glenn
Can't help with dimensions off the top of my head, but if you bin (sell!) the BMW box, and go find yourself a Rover SD1 LT77 V8 box, and a
bellhousing from an LDV pilot/200 van (best from Sherpaspares or similar, have a search on the web for details), then you can use this engine box
combo without the need for adaptor plates.
Also, use the diesel clutch, as it's stronger. You will also need the clutch fork and pivot bolt to match the bellhousing
