Still tempted!
I'm still tempted to build another '7'!
I've looked closely at GazzaP's ex race car but it's a bit
outside my budget (as it's miles away!).
Thinking of a track day car ( a colleague is looking for a 7 esque car so we could share the costs) and the 1700 class modified (non road going) is
quite competitive so I'd be considering something up to 1700 (Puma Zetec still appeals)
I have a load of bits in the garage - fuel pumps, R1 throttle bodies, part built chassis and I could swap the Emrald ECU, data logger and dash over in
about 15 minutes so could keep those costs down!
I don't know why I'm posting really but just looking for encouragement / inspiration!!

Have to say that is probably about the biggest bargain that's been on here for a long time! and I wish someone would buy it because, as you say,
it's very very tempting....... BUT it's not really quite what I want so I'm trying to remain strong.......
Please buy it someone, go on, you know you want to!!!

Hi yep just buy it. I was almost tempted myself to buy it but the realisation that the space and time it would consume for me made it a no no.
Re the 1700 puma (zetec se ) engine it's good+light 75kg for the engine. And plenty of parts are now available. Customers car has one in and is
giving 240 bhp although that did cost a few quid to obtain. But for the upto 1700 class it's the engine to have except for an all steel xflow
but that would be 10k.
Or just run it in locost and do some proper racing.
Cheers Matt

To avoid ulcers caused by stress, just give in and do it, you know you want to.

will second matt on the engine, great little stonker of a thing.
Burtons have been involved with a few so might be able to point you in the right direction and I know that Dave Walker at Emerald has dealt with a
couple.
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion
retro car restoration and tuning

That's good news as if I get another '7' I'll be using an Emerald ECU - I can swap the ECU, dash and data logger over from my
single seater in about 20 minutes which will save me about a grand on the build cost!

Thanks Matt
There are quite a few photos on the shaw speed web site. The Zetec SE looks so right in a '7'. I saw one last year in a Fury and that was
impressive as well. I do have my spare 2005 R1 engine sitting on the bench though.... :-)
The hunt for a chassis is still on. I still have a part built chassis sitting in a mate's attic (yes it will come out!) that was my spare when I
had the 750 MC race car, so I'm toying with getting that finished.
Regards
Wyn
