exhaust
hi there i want to make my own exhaust i how would i go about dont you have to have the manifold pipes the same length and a certain size depending on
where you want the power coming or some thing like that

your thinking of a 2-stoke engine which you can tune with the exhaust, 4-strokes are far more forgiving and not that fussy.
Ideally each pipe should be the same length when they merge into one so each pulse cannot meet another one at the same time, this would happen at some
rev ranges. Personally a 1 1/2 inch bore is big enough for a header, merging into a 2 inch main pipe but others go for 2 inchs for all of it.

It is not that simple if you want the max from your engine.
Not only does pipe length matter, the order in which it meets at the collector/s can have a marked effect.
On imps (I used to race them) even the exhaust gasket was used for extra power.
A gasket slightly bigger than the exhaust port created a small lip inside the manifold. This created a wave that bounces around in the manifold and
actually helped speed up the flow. (Don't ask me, find Reg Pattern who built my race engines).
As much as a good exhaust will improve things, a bad one can make it worse.
Bending equipment wise, do you have the correct stuff?
Proper pipe benders cost more than most exhausts are worth.
Sometimes paying someone to make you an exhaust is cheaper in the long run.
Martin Keenan of MK engineering made me a 4 branch manifold in stainless for my R1 for only £240 delivered.
