Blocked waterway
Having now got the car to the point where I can run the engine for some time (as opposed to turning it over to protect the belts and keep it
lubricated) I have a problem with the auto-choke not knocking off when the coolant's up to temp.
I've tracked it down to a blocked waterway where it comes off the ali. manifold. Have tried a blow-gun without success.
Can anyone recommend how to unblock the waterway by using a Radflush type product or similar before I start stripping it all down? Thanks in
anticipation.

I'm wondering if something that dissolves lime scale might do the trick or if its ally corrosion maybe an acid cleaner like used on wheels.

Try Altrans (Alloy cleaner)
Or
Vinegar in the cooling system,It takes limescale off the kettle when you get the water to temp. Then flush it through with a dishwasher tablet for a
bit and drain and fill with nice new coolant

My first pinto block had a blocked waterway. I found it when i had mild cooling issues. Someone recommended removing the plug at base of block and
flush it through - i removed plug and nowt came out. I good poke with screwdriver and then stiff wire had a small trickle. Several probes and flushes
later and a few hours with hose and i got it cleared.
Good motorfactors should stock a good flushing agent. Cant remember the name but £10 for smallish bottle rings a bell. Probs best to flush as best as
poss with plain water first then use the agent and flush out again later. If a waterway is blocked the channel could be quite solid and i doubt if
flush alone will clear it (hence saying to try mechanical and plain water flush first to get rid of the bulk).
