It could also be the diaphragm air vent pipe (supplies atmospheric pressure air to the non-vacuum side of the diaphragm) that on the original
installation is normally fed air from the airbox but can equally be left open....

I seem to recall the air vents are at the top and fuel pipes at bottom (adjacent to float bowls) on my keihins.
There were also more pipes on the bottom that were for hot water - i junked these and have never needed them.
If you try a search you may find some pics to refer to.

sorry - not a very good pic, but you can see the vents at the top, fuel with the pipe still on them
what you cant see are the heater ones (also on the bottom) - they apear to have been cut off mine

So the carbs are on the engine and running in a fashion? Have you got the diaphragms sealed up correctly. I had greif with my carb tops - rubber
grease to hold the seal in place before locatingthe tops worked a treat.
What engine? Jets drilled to...? Did you have any air bleed holes to block off?
Sorry to be picky - im not a bike expert - did Kawasaki do the 1100gsxr? If you mean ZZR they will be same as mine and i may be able to help more.

bike carbs
Hi there .
Oops sorry i made a mistake i have got kawasaki zzr1100d carbs, but i've been playing around with a set off a suzuki 1000 exup what ever they
are, i made a manifold and stuck them on i've not done any drilling of the jets just having a play to see if they worked, good point about the
diaphragms cos i did take the tops off to have a look,
Im hoping to put the 1100 zzr ones on but im in the middle of making a new manifold for these cos the other one is too small and the 1100 carbs are
40mm, they will be going on my race spec Vauxhall C20XE engine. ( truth of the matter is im getting bored cos i had to send my new velocity chassis
back due to problems and i'm waiting on delivery of my brand new one but it wont be here til the 8th march and im pulling me air out, cos the
bloody clock is ticking, it should of been 3 parts built by now) cheers.

No probs Bill.
What engine have you tried the ZZR's on? Are yours the newer version with TPS?
I have a 2.0 pinto with ported head, cammed (FR32), lightened flywheel and megajolt.
Car runs extremely well on ZZR1100 carbs. I have photos and stuff if you want them (send me email).
Jest are drilled out to 1.6 (by hand with 1.6mm drill - dont use electric drill).
Ive blocked off an air hole on each carb (pics explain which).
Massive K&N challenger fitted (too big to be honest).
Needles set to mid position. Care taken to seal diaphragms in place (car ran shite before they sealed). Honestyly i took lots of care fitting the tops
and car wasnt right. didnt rev cleanly at all. i took filter off and noticed the pistons werent rising on 3 carbs when i revved it up. Ive had tops
off and back on - no better. I was well puzzled. all it took was to fill the seal groove in the top of the carb body with rubber grease (red stuff -
but i think vaseline would do same job), diaphragm sat in very nicely, tops on and car revved up like a dream. Car ran so well i was gobsmacked when
Dave said it was well weak - after boggs set up the car was hugely better.
Following Boggs rolling road managed 120bhp at wheels. More to be had with proper cam.
Feel free to send me details of your set up so i can offer differences if i can.
What engine you got? What are the running symptoms. How have you got carbs set up?
