As long as the pick up is not too close to the sump and is immersed in oil at all times you shouldn't have any problems.

Eh?

Surely you want the pick up fully immersed at all times to prevent oil starvation?

How close is too close?
My sump has bowed up after the welding cooled and the pickup may be quite close.

Hi For TIN sumps Ie not cast ali. A competent engine builder would put a couple of small spacers to the required length welded to the pickup. So that it could not sit against the floor of the sump if it should happen to be squashed ect.

Cheers Matt
