Cooling woes.

Hi all,

Just in the middle of re plumbing my xflow and its really starting to annoy me. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I need a new radiator. Has to be about 420mm X 350mm. preferably easy to get hold of and cheap. Any ideas of cars I can raid for one? Thanks, Alex.

Yeh but they dont let you roam around having a look at the cars, you can only ask them for a specific part from a specific car and they will go and find it. I would just ask them for one with the dimensions I need but they are Polish and extremely unhelpful! (no offence to Polish people!)

Try Northern Radiators Catalogue

Find the one that fits (Polo?) and then you can either go to your local Polish scrappy or buy new for not a lot more!

Oh one of the scrappys here is like that, totally idiotic way to run one, they really don't have a clue. I once was taken into the yard (under guard) to identify a capri bit I needed and was totally stunned to see a stack off old landys that had obviously been there a loooong time, they'd gone green! In the other scrappy a Landy lasts about a day before folk have stripped down to the chassis. I never use that one now.

Just bought a new one from here £27 VW Polo

http://www.autokool.co.uk/

Not worth risking a second hand one.

I went into my local motor parts shop and had a llok through the catalogue looking for one with the correct fittings, hose positions etc and said:

"can I have one of them, X x Y with the filler cap blanked off and a breather here"

No problem sir, 3 days. I've still got it, i'll check the measurements and see if its any use to you.

Thanks for all the replies! How much did you pay for yours coozer? I looked at polo ones but the hoses would be in different places to where they are now, although I suppose it wouldn't be the end of the world replacing a few! 02GF74- thanks very much for the offer of the rad, I'll send a u2u in a min!

Alex.
