pinto webber carb ( return )

Hi have a webber carb to fit to a pinto and it has what looks like a feed and a return pipe connected to the float chamber

Question is do i have to use a return or would a SU type electric pump feeding the carb be ok

it unusual to have a return on a carb'ed car, normally it is only FI that need a return, but you will need a pressure regulator to reduce the pressure to the carb's

no i've had one too. i blocked off the return and it worked ok.

The return was used on mechanical pumps, it returned to the feed pipe on the tank side of the pump. I was told it was to prevent premature failure of the disc valves in the pump due to over pressuring.
Quite safe to block it off.
