ZX6R carb initial setup

I should be in a position to try starting the Zetec [1.8 blacktop] soon, so want to do as much on the carbs as I can beforehand.

So far:

Mains drilled to 1.65
Needle on middle groove.

Is there anything else that I should do?

Thanks

Stu

Starting my pinto on R1 carbs was litterally that simple attached to manifold adjusted the jets and put on fast idle so didnt die straight away and to my amazement first turn of the key she was away

i started with 165 jets on my tuned 1600 CVH with zx6 carbs, I brought a set of four at £4 each.
with these it started first time, ticked over and revved freely!
As part of the upgrade, I had also fitted a lambda sensor into the exhaust manifold and brought a magic box to monitor and indicate the fuel/air mixture, which indicated it was running too rich. (so did the 15mpg I initially got!).

Ive subsequently with the aid of the fuel/air monitor continued to tweak the fuelling, its now running with an air box, smaller 150 main jets (for full throttle fuelling), needle jets position 2 of 5 (mid range) and air screws two turns out (tick over fuelling) which seems to suit my engine Rescued attachment zx6 carbe 1600CVH.jpg
