Painting a stainless manifold?
Will high temp exhaust paint stick to stainless? I've re-built my manifold in a mixture of mild and stainless and the welds are mild steel. (I
kept the primaries and collectors which are mild and had secondaries bent up at the custom exhaust shop)
I want to paint it all the same colour and stop it rusting, but i'm wondering if exhaust paint will stick to the stainless properly.
I was thinking if I abrade the surface first with some emery paper it might help, I guess it's not designed for stainless though, has anyone
tried this?
Is the spray on stuff or paint on better? I was thinking the thinner coats of spraying would be good to help it stick to the stainless bits, but
i've sprayed a manifold before and it only lasted a few weeks before going rusty again, so maybe the thicker paint on layers would be better for
the mild, any thoughts?

Why dont you wrap it instead of painting, keeps the engine bay cool, and you cant see the metal, Cheers Ray
Just read your post again, no engine bay to keep cool, but I would still wrap it.
