pinto to xe conversion -she lives!!!

Managed to fire her up for the first time tonight, sweeeeeeeeeeeet

huge thanks to both of the following - Col ( locoboy )
for helping me to lift and fit the engine + gearbox in, and also to Stu (Stu16v)
for giving up the last 3 evenings to sort the wiring out!!! - sounds great, just a bit loud without the silencer on !!!
next job to sort out is the plumbing
great feeling knowing you stripped and rebuilt the engine - and it works!!!!!
even the twin 45 webbers that I fully stripped , cleaned and re-built are working faultlessly -cant wait to drive it!!

Great engine.

There was a Vauxhall engined Westfield at the hillclimb at the weekend where I did startline duties for a bit. Definitely had the fiercest blast of induction roar and exhaust as it left the line.

Still a great engine.

I've recently repacked my exhaust and I made the mistake of not wearing a dust mask while removing the old wadding and subsequently clearing the excess from the silencer with an air line! I would advise you not to make the same mistake because I'm still coughing away because of it.

nice engine choice

the induction roar from them does seem incredible, from the drivers seat you can't hear the exhaust at all on mine, just the inlets!!

Yep, you also will be surprised how much they do rev, I never had a rev counter on mine to start with and was surprised to find I was changing up at 6500 revs instead of 7500 which I finally fitted the counter!!

lol

Does seem to be a lot of XE builders on here suddenly now doesn't there

Was reading in an old PPC mag I found the other day, that Dave Walker at Emerald managed to find 235 bhp on a dyno on STD CAMS on an XE with bigger valves (though on std hydraulic followers and caps/collets etc) and decent porting job...................... certainly puts the duratec into perspective..................
