Zetec oil pressure

I am using a Capri dash with a capillary oil pressure gauge in my Zetec engined Robin Hood. While driving the oil pressure reads off the top of the gauge! and drops to about 40psi at idle.
I am using the same gauge and t-piece as I had on my Pinto engine, where it behaved normally - ie 25-30 ish at idle and 60 ish when driving.
What pressure should there be at the sender take off point? does the Zetec have a pressure relief valve - and could it be faulty?
Any suggestions most welcome

The zetec does run high presure. yours sounds right as mine has never dropped below 40psi when hot at idle, normal running seeing 75psi when hot.....90+ when cold!

They use very low viscosity oil so suspect pressure upped. The good news is that no more noisy cams due to oil blockages, and they last twice as long.

Mine idles at 75 and goes up to 85 when you rev it. even stone cold the it goes straight up to 65 when I turn the key.

I have mine plumbed into the head, just in front of the inlet manifold. Rescued attachment Oil Pipe.JPG
